I have extensive experience of performing all over the U.K and have completed tours of Europe and played lots of different festivals.
I have been fortunate enough to have my original material played on BBC radio 3 and 6 and to win the European Jazz award in 2014.
I have a large range of teaching experience with different ages and abilities. I have spent two years working within a mainstream school teaching music, social skills and general academic subjects to students with Moderate to Severe Learning difficulties. I have also received training on teaching individuals with Autism using music.
Teaching Style
I attempt to accommodate to the needs of all my students and cater my lessons to suit their abilities. I don't believe there is only one way to learn to excel at an instrument. Everybody has their own way of learning!
Syllabi
Familiar with Rockschool from Grade 1-8
Trinity Rock and Pop grades 1-8 on bass and 1-6 on guitar
Also familiar with ABRSM and RGT
Specialties
Although I studied Jazz I have experience with and enjoy playing lots of different genres.
I have a lot of experience with song writing, learning by ear, improvisation, Music Theory, extended techniques, sight reading, time feel and practice methods.
Other Services, Areas of Knowledge & Musicianship
I have hand outs and specific exercises I have designed to help the students with their all important individual practice.
I provide students in their 2nd lesson with a practice diary which we will fill out at the end of each lesson and they can write in at home in order to track what they practice and how effective they were.
Students will also have the opportunity to record themselves within the lesson in order to keep an audio diary of their progress as a musician.
I also offer ensemble skills lessons and would be happy to give pointers to an entire ensemble and have the facilities to do so within my house.
Teaching Location
I am based in Adel and have a teaching space within my house but have my own transport and am happy to travel within a 10 mile radius.
